I am a descendant of European Immigrants to the Owens Valley (fourth and first generation). My ancestors include a former Inyo County Supervisor, great-grandparents who lost their homestead to LA (proposed site for LADWP Solar Ranch), and an uncle who was interned at Manzanar. I walk in deep sorrow for the harm done by my ancestors (especially the McGees) to the original Owens Valley residents and its environment—it truly was an Eden, for the challenges ahead in the next century of the LA Aqueduct and beyond, and because the Owens Valley is not, “done, over with, forget it” as a northwest activist said to me once. The Owens Valley lives!
